Our Fave Things About Sandals Halcyon Beach All Inclusive Resort in St. Lucia
By Rachel Ruppert
Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort in St. Lucia is an amazing all-inclusive getaway with so many fun activities and some of the most unforgettable views I've ever seen! I recently visited with my spouse and we had an amazing time! Here were just a few of the things we loved the most that already have us planning our next trip back!
Personable Service
The moment we arrived at the resort we were greeted by the Sandals staff and escorted over to the concierge lounge for check in. There were welcome amenities like snacks, bottled water, and the check in process was quick and easy. They showed us around the resort and let us know about all the features and activities we could enjoy during our stay! Sandals Halcyon Beach is a very intimate and easily walkable property, but it was really nice to see everything they had to offer so we could mentally note our must do's! Then they escorted us to our room where we also got a brief tour and overview of the amenities. The food and beverage team was also incredible and very friendly! The bartenders around the resort remembered our drink orders and even customized drinks based on our preferences. The servers let us know their own personal tips and “menu hacks” which made our dining experience much more memorable, and delicious!
FREE Exchange Privileges
There are two other Sandals properties located in St. Lucia - Sandals Regenc La Toc and Sandals Grande St. Lucian. One of the amazing perks of this trip was the complimentary shuttle service between the resorts! We definitely feel like we got so much more out of our vacation by resort hopping to the two other properties to explore and utilize some of the amenities and activities available. Make sure to take a picture of the schedule when you arrive so you can plan your visits to the other resorts! You can even make reservations for some of the restaurants (also, be aware of any dress codes). It was so much fun enjoying the amazing beach and watersports at the Grande, the pools and endless activity at the Regency La Toc, and I highly recommend grabbing dinner at Kelly’s Dockside at Halcyon Beach!
Luxurious Accommodations
I really loved our room at this resort. It was spacious, modern, beachy, and the oceanfront location was a major plus! Our front door was just steps away from the Halcyon beach. We were close to the main pool and activity hub of the resort, but far enough away that we didn't hear any of the noise or have very much foot traffic outside our room. It felt very private and secluded, which was perfect!
Dining
Each Sandals resort has a nice variety of restaurants, and all of them have really great food. We didn’t have a bad meal anywhere! A great perk to staying at an all-inclusive means options are endless, and you can order as little or as much as you want! You can mix and match your whole meal! You could get an appetizer at one restaurant, entree at another, and then dessert at a third!
The Bayside buffet is basic but it does it’s job well. It has tons of options to appeal to all appetites, and it's perfect if you want something quick. The standout spots at each resort were Kelly’s Dockside Seaside Bar & Grill at Halcyon Beach; Armandos at Regency La Toc; as well as the Mariner Seaside Grill and the creperie at the Grande St. Lucian!
Destination and Scenery.
When it comes to a picture-perfect tropical Caribbean escape, St. Lucia really has it all! You’ll experience mountains, waterfalls, cliffs, gorgeous sandy beaches, volcanos, gardens, and rainforests all in one vacation! Sandals does a great job at showcasing the natural geography in their three resorts. Halcyon Beach definitely captures that “Garden of Eden” atmosphere with all of the foliage and hibiscus flowers; the Grande St Lucian has an amazing tropical beach setting with volcanic mountain views; and the cliffside overlooks at the Regency La Toc were unreal!
Are there any cons to staying at this resort?
While there are many pros and I cannot wait to go back, I also want to touch on a few of downsides that stood out to me during our stay:
Airport Transportation
There is quite a trek from the airport to the resort. The main airport is UVF Hewanorra International Airport which services the most airlines and flight routes, but it is not close to any of the Sandals resorts. It will be at least an hours drive, sometimes upwards of two, depending on traffic. The drive is largely on a one-way road, and although scenic, the drive is long and quite hilly. Come prepared if you tend to get car sick! Helicopter and ferry rides are also available for an additional charge if you prefer. (Speak to your travel agent about this for more information!)
Limited Lounge Chairs
The pool and beach loungers at the resort fill up quickly! If you want a good spot, be sure to reserve it early. However, Sandals Resorts are well known for their award-winning butler service and this can come in handy here. You can request that your butler reserve the best spot for you each day with the perfect amount of sun and shade. So in that case, you can mosey on over whenever you like to find your towels and cooler with your favorite snacks and beverages are already there waiting for you!
Travel Time Between Resorts
While it is an amazing perk to be able to hop between resorts, one thing to keep in mind is that there can be quite a long shuttle ride between Sandals Regency La Toc and Sandals Grande St. Lucian. We enjoyed that the resort we stayed at, Sandals Halcyon Beach,is located right in the middle, which was only a 10-15 min ride to either of the sister resorts. However, if you are staying at the Grande St. Lucian, it's about a 25-35 minute ride to the Regency La Toc and vice versa. Make sure to account for the travel time if you book any restaurant reservations at another resort.
So, what’s the verdict?
You really can't go wrong with any of the Sandals resorts on St. Lucia! They're known for being some of the best, most revisited resorts of the Sandals brand and they each have their own unique personality so there really is something for everyone!
