Walt Disney World Lightning Lane Changes 2024!
If you’re a Disney parks fan you may have heard that there are updates coming to the Disney Genie+ service and you may be thinking, “I literally JUST learned Genie+…now I have a new system to learn? HELP!”
We hear you! But we’re here to try and explain what we know in the simplest terms to help everyone understand these changes. Things may continue to change so you will want to keep your eyes on the Walt Disney World website for the most current information but this is a great starting point!
Beginning July 24th, 2024, there will be new, simpler names and updated features to the Genie+/Lightning Lane model to make your planning even easier.
Here’s a quick rundown of what’s changing:
New Names:
Disney Genie+ service will now be called Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Individual Lightning Lane will be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass.
New Features:
Plan in Advance: You’ll be able to make Lightning Lane plans before your WDW visit!
Choose Your Experiences and Times: Select your experiences and times prior to purchasing, so you know exactly what you’re getting!
Book for Multiple Days: Book Lightning Lane passes for multiple vacation days in a single transaction!
How It Works:
Lightning Lane Multi Pass: Make up to 3 Lightning Lane selections in advance for a theme park and choose available times. On the day of your visit, you can check the My Disney Experience app to make additional selections.
Lightning Lane Single Pass: Secure a time to ride one of the most highly demanded attractions in advance, just like the current system, but with the added benefit of planning ahead.
Planning Windows:
Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel or select hotels can plan Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance for their entire stay (up to 14 days).
All other guests can plan up to 3 days in advance.
This update blends the best features from the current services and the former FastPass+ service, making it simpler and more convenient for you to plan your magical experiences!
